One of the annoying quirks we found with Windows 10 was that system notifications now include an audio alert. That’s not such a big deal at home, but try pushing out 50 applications to a lab of computers, each of which beeps for each application installed, and it gets overbearing. On build 1511 there does not seem to be a direct way to turn off notification sounds, so the best you can do is clear out the audio file within the sound theme.
This is easy enough through control panel – the “Notification” sound is what you need to unset – but of course we need a way of doing this in bulk. Thankfully this is just a registry setting: HKCU\AppEvents\Schemes\Apps\.Default\Notification.Default\.Current
Clear out the (default) entry, and you will remove the notification sound. For once, something nice an easy.
